MICRONEEDLING (SKIN NEEDLING)

Microneedling is a non-surgical procedure which causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage.  The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact (Bellus Medical, 2017)

Dr. Crabtree uses SkinPen by Bellus Medical which is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device.  You can use microneedling to treat various deficits such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne Scarring
  • Dark circles
  • Melasma and dark pigmentation
  • Sun damage

Dr. Crabtree can discuss your goals and come up with a treatment plan and package that meets those goals.  He may also combine your microneedling procedure with the use of PRP, platelet rich plasma.  PRP further helps induce new collagen production and amplify results.

The treatment involves microneedles that make micropunctures into the skin.  Discomfort is minimal with the use of a topical numbing cream.

Post-treatment, track marks and dry skin will exist for 1-2 days. You will see an improvement in your skin after the first week, however, new collagen is formed over 90 days and the results will continue to improve over the next 3 – 6 months.

Generally, 3 treatments are needed and up to 6 treatments may be required for more severe cases (all at 4-6 weekly intervals).
