NECK REJUVENATION

In terms of the negative effects of the aging process, the neck is one of the regions of the body that is hardest hit with wrinkling, sagging and drooping.  This can significantly mar an otherwise attractive profile, giving visual signals of aging and weight gain, even as the rest of the body remains fit and trim.  Also, the popularity of selfies fuels the desire for improvement in the neck region.

Dr. Crabtree has four effective procedures for recontouring and slimming the neck area, frequently performed in tandem with a facelift, eyelid lift and other facial treatments due to the cost effectiveness and decreased downtime associated with combination approaches. In the hands of a skilled surgeon such as Oahu-based Dr. Crabtree, the skin and muscles are rejuvenated, and the neck resumes a more youthful aesthetic.

Dr. Crabtree offers a varying degree of neck options ranging from full neck lift performed under general anesthesia in the surgery center to less invasive procedures done under local anesthesia in the clinic setting.

Your Consultation

In your initial consultation, Dr. Crabtree will take the time to discuss goals and expectations that can be realistically achieved with neck lift surgery. As it is often performed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures, Dr. Crabtree will also help determine which complementary procedures may benefit you the most. Together you will come up with a plan to give you the best outcome based on your goals.  The options for Neck Lift surgery are:

  • Neck Lift Surgery
  • Direct Neck Excision
  • Renuvion powered by J Plasma Neck Tightening
  • Vaser® Liposuction of the neck

If you decide you are ready to proceed you will set a date for surgery and be given instructions on how to prepare. You will also schedule a pre-operative appointment to review your medical history, take pre-operative photographs, measure for your post-surgical garments and confirm the details of your surgery.

Your Procedure

Neck Lift Surgery

The surgical Neck Lift addresses the sagging jowls, loose neck skin and fat accumulation under the chin. The neck lift incision often begins in front of the ear lobe and wraps around behind the ear and ends in the posterior hair behind the ear.

The procedure will be performed with general anesthesia and the length of surgery will depend on a number of factors, including any additional procedures that are being combined with the neck lift. Dr. Crabtree will gently tighten underlying facial tissues and then remove any excess skin as needed. Throughout the surgical process, Dr. Crabtree will be aided by his board-certified operating team.

Neck Lift Incision

Direct Neck Excision

A direct neck lift is performed under local anesthesia in our clinic’s procedure room It can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures.

Based on the anatomy of the patient, the severity of the deformity, and any concurrent procedures being performed, Dr. Crabtree designs the direct excision on the front of the neck.  This usually takes the shape of a straight line a zig-zag, multiple zig-zags, or an inverted “T” for optimal scar camouflage once healing is complete.

After the redundant skin has been removed, Dr. Crabtree addresses any excess fatty tissue with a combination of liposculpture (sculpting the fat by hand with sharp instruments) and suction assisted lipectomy (liposuction).  Finally, the incision is closed in a meticulous manner with sutures.

This procedure gives immediate results, requires very short downtime and is ideal for many men especially with a localized “turkey neck”. Woman are also candidates in select cases.

Renuvion powered by J Plasma Neck Tightening

Renuvion powered by J Plasma is a revolutionary minimally invasive procedure that uses subdermal cold plasma energy to instantly tighten and rejuvenate anywhere on the neck and jowls. Dr. Crabtree is the first and only surgeon in Hawaii to use this new technique to shrink and sculpt loose and lax skin without large incisions, downtime or the need for general anesthesia.  This office based procedure will give you a sculpted neckline and youthful contours in as little as 1 hour.

Using only tiny incisions similar to that used by a liposuction cannula, Dr. Crabtree can precisely and artistically sculpt and lift areas of the neck and jowls using cold plasma technology.  Further sculpting can result when combining Vaser® Liposuction with the procedure.

  • Tighten excess skin along the neckline
  • Remove excess fat under the chin and jowls
  • Give lasting results
  • Produce a more youthful more attractive profile

This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in the clinic’s procedure room and typically takes an hour to an hour and a half.

After the treatment, patients can usually get back to their routine activities within a day or two. You will have swelling for about 3 to 7 days post-op with minimal bruising (although this may vary from patient to patient).

You will also need to wear a compression garment for 3 days full time, and then another 7 days part time.

Typically 3 tiny incisions are closed with sutures which will be removed in 5-7 days.

Vaser® Liposuction of Neck

Neck Liposuction/Lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses Vaser® liposuction to tighten the skin and melt the excess fat in the neck. It is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can efficiently treat the dreaded turkey neck and stubborn double chin.

The procedure involves the use of an ultra-thin cannula that helps to contract the collagen fibers, while melting small fatty deposits. The scar is about half a centimeter and is under your chin. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in the clinic’s procedure room and the procedure lasts about 1 hour.
